Dissonance- where the shark comes out of no where, and hits the cage, violins chellos.
Parallel sound- Sound that matches the image- Sound of the water and the shark.
Leitmotif- Sound track for a character, Sound building up for the shark, starts of low pitch then gradually builds up.
Instrumentation - Violins, double bass, chello, silence increase in amplitude, building tention.
Pitch- Low pitch before the shark gets to the cage the it gradually build up to a high pitch when the shark gets closer.
Fight/Flight- High and low pitch sounds mainly all the sound in the film to build up tention.
Score- Builds tention through the clip- when the shark comes to the cage.
Amplitude- Makes the scene music get louder and drops down all of a sudden
Consonance- sound that goes together kind of like parallel sound.

LOTR soundtrack Deconstruction
For the score the music played throughout the whole scene. Describe the score. Instruments used, pace (fast, slow, tempo, rhythm). Does the score change throughout the scene? How? Why? What is the score trying to tell us. HOw does the music establish an atmosphere or mood in this scene?
The kings speech was done by ADR this is where they record the sound over the top to get better quality. Why do you think they did ADR for the king?
Foley sound effects are where they create them themselves for example where they create the foot step sounds they used sand and coconuts. Give specific examples from the scene (2mins) of where foley has been used? Why? Realism.
Sound designs where u create unusual sounds a good example is from the film avatar they have used sound design to create the creature sounds.In this film sound design is used at the beginning where the dragon comes in.
Ambiance is where there is a sound in the atmosphere for example a crowd at a football match. It's used to put the characters in the right place and set the scene. What is the ambiance in this scene? What sounds have been used to create this? Where are the characters and how do we know?

What is a film score and why is it used?
Music that runs underneath visuals.
The score forms part of the film's soundtrack, which also usually includes dialogue and sound effects, changed the audiences mood, tells them how to feel.
What are Foley sound effects and why are they used?
Foley is your everyday sound effects which are created by humans, there used to enhance the quality of the audio. An example for Foley sound is when they used coconuts for the horses foot steps.

Automated Dialogue Replacement Dialog that cannot be salvaged from production tracks must be Re-recorded in a process called looping or ADR, used for when you cant understand or its been distorted.
